Legal Assistance to fix Identity Theft

Identity Theft Signs | How to Fix | Fort Worth | Legal Assistance/PLLC Attorney

Have you found surprises on your credit report? Have you read through a report from TransUnion, Equifax, or Experian and found accounts that aren’t yours?

You may be a victim of identity theft. Identity theft affects all Texans and North Texans, whether we live in Fort Worth, Benbrook, White Settlement, or Haltom City.

My name is James Foley, PLLC, and I’m Fort Worth’s choice when it comes to making sure consumers have a fair chance in keeping their financial information accurate. I’m determined to make sure that credit reporting agencies (CRA’s) treat you fairly, and that people who try to steal from you are stopped ASAP.

While ID Theft is fairly common in Fort Worth cases, it’s not always what’s at play. Let me help you get to the root of the problem, to get your life back to normal as quickly as possible.

If you’re not aware of what’s in your credit report, that’s a good place to start when trying to determine the security of your identity. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com, input your information, and scour that report for anything that looks out of place.

Signs of ID Theft | Identity Theft Legal Help Fort Worth | Debt Defense

Have you noticed any of the following problems?

Do you have credit cards that you never applied for, which have been maxed out in your name for things you didn’t buy?
Has someone served you a lawsuit claiming that you owe their company thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in debt?
Have you been warned about the repossession of a vehicle that you never owned?

If any of the above sound accurate, and you’re wholly positive that you don’t own said accounts, you must act at once to stop the financial bleeding.

File an identity theft report with the police, as well as an FTC affidavit. (Need help with these? I’m here to assist.) Then, freeze your credit so that any future purchases will need approval from you and you alone!

With my help, we can ensure that your CRA knows that your identity has been compromised, and we’ll work together to make sure the information is corrected.

When it’s not Identity Theft | Other reasons for incorrect credit info

Identity Theft frequently leads to financial recklessness and ruin. So, let’s say you find any of the below:

-Accounts you don’t own, but have been paid with some frequency.
-Accounts you recognize from a previous time, but shouldn’t be active any longer.
-Accounts you recognize from a current debt, but with incorrect charges or totals due.

The good news with the above instances is that it’s less likely that your identity has been stolen, and you have some hope in being able to avoid the hassle that comes with such treachery.

When the above instances occur, they may be the result of: overinflated balances, incorrect public information, reaged information, merged accounts, or resurrected bankruptcy accounts.

Two John Smith’s out there with similar social security numbers? Their accounts could very easily be combined by mistake. This is known in the business as a merged file. A company that had its records stolen, and is rebuilding from old documents? An account could be reactivated by mistake. One extra zero added to your water bill? An overinflated balance.

Whichever of the above is the case, or if it’s a combination of those possibilities, I’ll fight for your financial wellbeing.

The statute of limitations may be as little as two years for many of the inaccuracies I handle, so don’t let any more time pass by than already has, especially if you find yourself with a few extra minutes to spare!
