Credit Check | Weatherford | Unauthorized Pull
If you’re located in Weatherford, or anywhere in Texas for that matter, you may be looking to make sure that your credit score is accuarate.
If you didn’t realize your credit report and credit score were different, now you know!
Credit Report Check | North Texas | Weatherford
Go straight to www.annualcreditreport.com and put in your information.
Through this site, you’re able to freely and securely check your credit report, which heavily influences the number that later becomes your credit score. The better your report accounts, the better. However, there are other factors besides amount of debt that will influence your overall score.
If you find something fraudulent on your credit report, you’re already doing yourself a favor, and can improve your credit score almost immediately. I commonly litigate outdated public records (like judgments), post-litigated credit reports with incorrect information (such as a take-nothing judgment for the debtor on a collection suit), and stale, outdated, or reaged
debt. If you have debt sold from one creditor to another as well, that may be entered or included incorrectly.
Credit Pulls, One of the Most Common Sources of Wrong doing
I’ve helped clients across Weatherford, Aledo, and Mineral Wells when it comes to credit pulls, and it all starts with knowing the difference.
1. A “Soft” Credit Pull will not damage your credit score.
Credit report companies make money when they sell your non-confidential data to potential lenders, who will then mail you those annoying pre-approved offers. Luckily, your credit score will not be impacted by these credit pulls. You’re in the clear.
2. A “Hard” Credit Pull will very likely impact your credit score.
This is where all Texans should pay attention. If you can’t pay off all of your debts today, you can at least make sure credit you’ve applied for is correct.
If you apply for a job, move into an apartment, or buy a car, you’ll see a list of this activity in your hard credit pulls. However, if you walk onto a car lot and don’t buy a car, you shouldn’t see this activity, but it still might appear. Situations like these are where we have a problem.
If you see a hard pull that you didn’t consent a company to perform, that company is acting illegally, and the credit reporting agency that developed your report is allowing them to do so.
When you make a fraudulent entry right, you will see a credit score improvement and may be owed damages in excess of hundreds of dollars. Make sure to act soon, as waiting can impact your credit score, and the statute of limitations can expire within 2 to 7 years.
FCRA Attorney | Weatherford | James Foley PLLC
You can let me begin the correction process for the price of postage, or you yourself can initiate it. Beginning a dispute is only the beginning, as the CRA’s receive many disputes each year, and don’t always act on them. Be ready for a fight, if necessary.
The dispute process can be complicated, but I’ve faced it for many clients over many years, and I will assist you in tracking your dispute, from the point of beginning, to the point where the issue is resolved or maybe we elect to file a lawsuit.
